Bhagvad Geeta for daily life
There is no
major difficulty in daily life which cannot be referred to the Bhagavad Gita
for a great resolution. The Bhagvad Gita is one of the most controlling of the
Sanskrit scriptures of history in India, according to other opinion Gita is
neither way of life nor religious studies, metaphysics nor poem. It is a
realistic instruction manual for daily life in any age level, in any spiritual
ritual, and my observations try to implement Gita’s knowledge particularly to
the problems faced by us in modern life. Today there is the vital need for such
an instructional guidebook. We observe this book reflected in our newspapers,
magazines, books, and movies etc. In spite of all our scientific advances and
material wealth, we are unaware of the harmony of mind and live in fear and
antagonism in the middle of growing aggression. We are trapped in the bright
vision that the search for satisfaction will guide us to joy, the search of
income will show the way us to defense, and most of us have no other reason in life
than this motivating urge to bring about our own confidential implementation
even if it is at the expense of other people, races, or countries of the world.
The Bhagavad Gita shows us how we can stimulate from our dreams of life. Even
on the stage of the body, we know that in cancerous cells the whole living
entity is ultimately destroyed when even a single cell begins to follow its own
path without the help of the rest. Likewise, the Bhagavad Gita tells us, you
and I cannot accomplish ourselves by going our personal way. We can find
eternal realization only by contributing to the happiness and execution of
others, in which our own pleasure and achievement are incorporated. This is not
a philosophical boredom, but a realistic standard which we must gain knowledge
to live by if our nation is to survive. It is the vital need of our time to be
aware of the harmony of the entire forms of life, and the friendly relationship
among water, earth, air, plants, and all daily life forms. I am a vegetarian
not only because my relatives were, but also for the reason that I recognize
this harmony.
The Ecologists have begun to tell us that there is an
interpenetrating relationship among all living things with their environment
which we can go against only at our hazard. To apply the knowledge of the
Bhagavad Gita no amount of scholarly study can be of much help, because
scholarly knowledge, by its very natural world, has little power to change
quality, behavior, and awareness. Meditation is the powerful mechanism which
enables us to bring the eternal knowledge of the Gita into our daily life, step
by step.
